Fundraiser defaults for fundraisers

Fundraiser defaults are the pre-set settings and suggestions that the fundraiser will see when they create their fundraiser. These pre-set suggestions help guide the fundraisers as they customise their page.

Each project sets these fundraiser defaults, so they can be customised to the specific project, campaign or event.

You, as a charity, can set defaults for six fields. These are:

Default fundraiser type
Default fundraiser goal
Default fundraiser end date
Default fundraiser description
Default video (URL)
Default fundraiser profile image

You change the project defaults by logging in with your administrator login, going to the specific project, and clicking "edit".

Default Fundraiser Type

You have the option to choose between three different options for how supporters select the fundraiser type. You can either A) let them select freely, B) select among corporate or private fundraiser types, or select a default fundraiser type. If you select the latter, then you have to choose which type will be the default fundraiser type for all fundraisers.

If you, for example, create a project for birthday fundraisers, you can pre-set the fundraiser type to "birthday" or, if you make a project that will be linked to a sports event, set it to "Sports event."

Mobile donation forms

Each fundraiser has a mobile donation form. These are short donation forms optimised for use when sharing on mobile. They only have mobile payments as an option (so only MobilePay (DK), Swish (SE), and Vipps (NO)). These can be used when the contact details of donors are less important.

The mobile donation form is mainly used for a unique QR code linking to this form. This makes it possible to promote the QR code in physical spaces, where donors can make a very quick donation using their mobile phones. Besides this, the mobile donation form is also promoted in an email (E#17) for sports fundraisers, sent one day before the end date.

The form only asks for a mobile phone number and the name of the donor. They are made for high conversion rates rather than gathering a lot of information on donors.

The mobile donation forms can either be found on the internal page for each fundraiser or in any report of fundraising pages you can download from the data exporter.

Fundraiser tools

Fundraisers have a separate "dashboard" for managing their fundraisers—we call it Fundraiser Tools.

NOTE: Fundraiser Tools are only available for peer-to-peer fundraisers at this time. In Memory fundraisers can manage their fundraisers directly from the fundraiser page. It includes the following features:

A prominent progress bar, with an easy way to update the fundraiser goal as the fundraiser progresses.
An expanded list of social sharing links, with more social networks, email, and even SMS and WhatsApp.
Links to sharing options include QR codes and the live-updating TV screen.
A section where we display suggestions from our Fundraiser Coach.
There is a section where all donations are listed, and the donors can be individually thanked, or all donors can be thanked at the same time with one message—perfect for influencers or fundraisers. The list of donations can also be filtered to only show the unanswered donations.
A link to downloadable fundraising toolkits, if you have set this on the project for the fundraiser.

Offline donations

What is an offline donation?

An offline donation is a donation that has been received outside of BetterNow and so will not be charged any BetterNow fees.

The donation will be shown on the fundraiser page just like a normal donation.

The payment goes through the charity, and the charity is responsible for adding the offline donation to the fundraising page after receiving the donation.

The offline donation feature is mainly for larger donations that have been transferred directly to the charity and thus have not been included in the total amount of the fundraiser.

How to make an offline donation

Offline donations can be made only by charity administrators. Offline donations can be made from the internal admin page for the fundraiser.

To find this, go to:

Dashboard → Fundraisers → Find the relevant fundraiser → Add offline donation

Next step is to fill out the donation form, where you have the same options as if you were donating directly from the fundraising page.
The email address is used to associate the donation with a user. If in doubt, you can use your own or a made-up one.
If you would like to add a motivating comment to the fundraiser, add this in the comment box.

Managing offline donations

You can find and edit offline donations under the Donations section of your dashboard. For obvious reasons, you cannot refund offline donations nor have donation receipts resent, but you can edit and delete offline donations at any time.

Question 5

Closing, hiding, or deleting a project

When your campaign is over or, for some other reason, you want to end a project, you can either finish, hide, or delete a project.

You can delete, hide, or finish a project from the project page.

If a project is already finished, you can delete it later.

If a project is already hidden, then you can finish or delete it.

Delete a project

If you delete a project, it will be deleted forever. It will no longer be displayed anywhere. All fundraisers for the project will be set to 'finished' and will no longer be able to accept donations and are only reachable via direct link.

Deleting a project is a non-reversible action, even for BetterNow employees.

Finish a project

If you finish a project, it disappears from the list of available projects that you can fundraise for, and it is no longer possible to create new fundraisers within that project.

The project will still be listed under the index page of all projects, but will not be listed as available to fundraise for.

You can also choose to disable donations to all existing fundraisers.

Disabling donations for a project is a non-reversible action, even for BetterNow employees.
