How fundraisers are sorted

Fundraisers on index pages are sorted by what we call the Activity Score.

The Activity Score is our way of ensuring that the fundraisers which are currently most active are shown first. It also ensures that, even if there are no active fundraisers at a given time or under a specific object (e.g. a project page), we still display the fundraisers with the highest lifetime donations.

How the Activity Score is calculated

Activity Score = (Total fundraised in the last 7 days) * 1  
               + (Total fundraised in the last 2 months) * 0.01  
               + (Total fundraised all time) * 0.001

There are a few additional rules applied, but the above formula captures the core logic of the Activity Score.
