Adding a link to your Terms and Conditions

You can set your own Terms and Conditions for donations received. These should explain to donors if and how they can request a refund, and may include other donation-related policies (e.g. if you do not accept donations from certain sectors or companies).

If you have a white label site, you can also set Terms and Conditions for the overall use of the site. These should govern the use of the site by fundraisers, donors, and users in general.

How to add Terms and Conditions

  1. Go to Account Settings in your dashboard (under Legal).
  2. Add a URL linking to a page that contains your Terms and Conditions.

If your Terms and Conditions are included within your Privacy Policy, you can enter the same URL in both fields. However, we recommend separating them to improve clarity and readability.

Where will these be shown?

For white label sites:

If you have a white label site, your Terms and Conditions will be linked from:

  • The site footer
  • The donation form
  • The general sign-up form
  • The “Create a fundraising page” form

On platforms:

If you're active on one of the BetterNow platforms (e.g. se.betternow.org, dk.betternow.org), your Terms and Conditions will be linked from the donation form—but not from other parts of the site.

Note: Most payment acquirers require that Terms and Conditions are presented to donors. If you don’t add your own, the BetterNow default Terms and Conditions will be shown. We recommend adding your own. If not, we’ll remind you to do so.

Inspiration for creating your own Terms and Conditions

We have created a template for you to copy and adapt. These are based on the previous Terms and Conditions used on the now-closed BetterNow platform. We’ve removed our name and some platform-specific content. Please adapt them to your organisation’s specific needs.

Once you've added your own Terms and Conditions, they will replace the default BetterNow Terms and Conditions everywhere on your white label fundraising site. They will also be used for any donations made to your organisation through a BetterNow platform (if you are published there).

IMPORTANT: BetterNow cannot be held liable for the use of these sample Terms and Conditions. They are provided for inspiration only.
